Original paintings in West Africa
"I began drawing sketches in my textbooks when I was a child.""I am Kofi. B. Awuyah, a painter in Ghana. I am a hardworking, sociable and determined person.
"I began drawing sketches in my textbooks when I was a child and I remember the many times I was punished for drawing in my books. Interestingly, this did not stop me from sketching. I knew I loved art, but I was asked to pursue business management in high school. If I did not take this course, then my school fee would not be paid.
"I took the business class, but I assisted the visual arts students with their assignments, which helped me improve my art skills. After high school, I had a six-month apprenticeship and afterward, I began selling my paintings at a gallery.
"I receive my inspiration from things I see around me. The most challenging aspect of my work is when I have a limited time to create a painting. What I most enjoy is using bright colors in my art."
