Popular Hand Woven Tops
White and Flame Embroidered Cotton Blouse from Mexico, "Flame Delight"
Embroidered by hand, delightful patterns in flame decorate the neckline of this sleeveless blouse from Mexico. Manuela Gomez designs this blouse, which she weaves by hand from white cotton on the traditional backstrap loom.
Hand Woven Blue Cotton Sleeveless Blouse from India, "Varkala Sea"
Handloomed cotton evokes the blue waters of Varkala beach on the Arabian Sea. By Isha Jain, this sleeveless blouse features pleats that cascade from an embroidered yoke with colorful running stitches. Bias binding trims the armholes and scoop neck, and the top fastens with a fabric button at the back.
As is typical of genuine handloomed fabric, there are tiny slubs throughout. This occurs when a thread runs out, and the weaver extends it by twisting a new thread together with the old.
White Kantha Stitch Embroidered Triangle Cotton Tunic, "Song of the Hill"
Indian textile artisan Ritu Agnihotri celebrates the sounds of the hills in this stylish handwoven cotton tunic. The white blouse features stitching, a small running stitch popular in south Asian embroidery. Small triangles form a wavy motif, stemming from a modern neckline. Three quarter sleeves allow you to move freely throughout the day.
