"My name is Kwasi Agyeman Addo Atiase and I am a jewelry artist with a talent for creativity and design. I was born in Accra in 1972.
"I became interested in crafting jewelry after seeing my older brother create calabash earrings. I taught myself and learned how to weave a cord and how to carve the hard way. I practiced a lot to master this craft and my desire to succeed kept me going.
"In 1995, I attended a fair trade exhibition and met an exporter who loved my work and suggested I create coconut buttons. I stayed up two nights in a row to make samples. The exporter loved them and said I should improve the finishing touches. But he couldn't buy from me because I took too long, as I did everything by hand. I decided to create necklaces, bracelets and earrings, however, I still make some coconut buttons.
"I am always happy when I'm crafting jewelry and I'm passionate about my work. I use coconut, bamboo and glass beads. My inspiration comes from within and from other works of art.
"I hope to obtain more equipment to be able to speed up my work. I want to have more creative and unique designs to sell to people around the world. And I dream of having a workshop of my own."
