This is my third mask by Angel Franco. I?ve hung it with the other two. I love the detail and colors of his work.
I purchased something similar when I was in Peru but unfortunately it was stolen from my house. I?m so happy to finally have a replacement, which is a beautiful piece of art. Highly recommended
Peruvian Mask in Copper and Bronze with Gemstones, "Chavin Ceremonial Blade"
Images from the Inca Empire inspire Ana Maria Enciso to provide a glimpse pre-Hispanic life. Inspired by the sharp arc of the a pre-Hispanic blade, the artisan incorporates it into a mask. She depicts a noble personage from the ancient Chavin culture in copper with bright bronze details and applications of chrysocolla, marble and sodalite gemstones.
Unique Copper and Bronze Wall Mask, "Ai Apaec"
Ai Apaec, the most revered of Moche deities, wears the sun for a crown in a mask of powerful elegance. Angel Franco is inspired by the divine character known as Lord Decapitator, as well as Lord Creator, whose name actually means "He who gets things done." His image usually adorned the breastplates of high-ranking Moche functionaries. They had them throughout their lives and were buried with them. The mask was characterized by slanted eyes and ear muffs. Franco works with galvanized bronze and copper as he creates contrasts of color and texture in the crafting of this mask.
Handmade Archaeological Copper and Bronze Mask, "Moche God Great Ai Apaec"
The Moche Warrior Lord Ai Apaec reveals his presence as a powerful mask. He is associated with the jaguar, thus his depiction bears feline features. Ai Apaec's image usually adorned the breastplates of high-ranking Inca functionaries. They wore them throughout their lives and were buried with them. Angel Franco adapts original details as he works with bronze and copper, creating contrasts of color and texture in the crafting of this mask.
