Ridges along the sides of this sensational two-toned art glass centerpiece accentuate the piece's petal shapes; the lilac hue at the rim slowly gives way to a rich amber tone, evoking the sweet nectar at the center of a new bloom. It is blown by hand by members of the Molinari Family, who learned their craft from Italian master Aldo Bonora after he emigrated to Brazil from Murano Island.
Because each piece is individually crafted by hand, minor variations in color, shape and weight are to be expected.
Antonio Carlos and his brother, Paulo Molinari, learned the ancient hand-blown glass technique as apprentices of the Italian master, Aldo Bonora, who came to Brazil from Murano Island. After eight years, they opened their own workshop in 1962. Considered among the most brilliant and talented hand-blown glass makers in the country, they have trained a number of glass artisans and have formed masters that have worked with them for more than 30 years.
More than fifty years ago, Antonio Carlos and Paulo Molinari set up their workshop with a small group of artisans. Today they have trained many more artisans and family members, who all work with them.
This artist is an elder master and continues to actively practice their craft.
"Love this. Exactly what I hoped for."
Couldn't have been more pleased when I opened the package. Was a little nervous because it was the first pece of Murano style glass I had purchased from Novica and I didn't know what to expect. I collect and display special glass pieces (that I can afford) in my home and am proud to include this piece in the exact location that I bought it for based on the photos and description I saw on line. It is exatly as described and even more special and beautiful in person.
