“I consider myself to be a very enthusiastic person, especially when creating things. Jewelry has always been my greatest passion, so I wanted to create my own designs.
“I was born in Tapachula in the state of Chiapas; my mother always showed a beautiful passion for jewelry. It was inevitable that I would be infected by this passion and motivated to create my own project. More than anything, I was attracted by natural stones, specifically amber, which is very rich in this beautiful region of the country.
“My mother was the one who showed me how to make textiles and showcase amber in an elegant and casual way. I admit that it was not easy at the beginning. Visualizing a piece from scratch and imagining it on a person was hard. Practice and repetition was a great help.
“I discovered that the part that I enjoy the most about my work is seeing the result of what you imagined in your mind. I could transform my imagination into a reality that you can touch and feel. My designs are challenging because they are constantly innovating, as I transmit them onto paper in order to create a piece you can touch with your hands. The material that we like to work with the most is amber, which is primarily extracted from the beautiful municipality of Simojovel, known as the ‘land of amber’.
“I imagine that each person that wears my designs looks elegant, and that they feel a sense of identification with each one of our pieces. Each piece carries a part of us and it is very gratifying to know that our clients like them.
“Our goal is to visualize ourselves as self-taught artisans, working with various jewelry techniques with a beautiful touch of amber. Each piece makes me a better person, helping me reflect the best of my talent and feelings. I know that by sharing our pieces with NOVICA, we will continue to grow.”
