Tiers of fancy lace bring feminine elegance to this bohemian shoulder bag by India's Harpreet Kaur. In shades of bronze, green, purple, red, gold, yellow and off-white, the different types of lace are recycled from left over pieces in Kaur's workshop. On the back and on the handles, flowers and leaves appear in olive green. There is a zipper pocket in the lined interior while the main bag closes with a magnetic button.

Harpreet and her husband have one child that they support.

Harpreet grew-up with a love of Indian textile design, in particular the art of embroidery which she learned from her mother. Apart from her early maternal lessons she is self-taught. Harpreet has diligently applied herself to mastering the embroidery and textile embellishment techniques that define her designs. In turn, she has passed these skills to her workers.

Nearly 50% of Harpreet's workshop sales are through Novica. This steady income has enabled her to grow her workshop and to provide for the education of her own child and her worker's children.

Harpreet has worked very hard to grow her business. She is now able to employ five other artisans in her workshop on a full-time basis.

Harpreet and her husband provide for not only their own son's education but they provide for the education of their worker's children.

The Women's Empowerment badge is awarded to female artisans or artisan groups that are led by women.

"Dissapointed"

The colors in my bag were very different than the one in the picture. I was aware of the fact that the colors would vary but not this much. Mine came with garish colors compared to the one shown.
