“Hi friends, I am Sanjay Mamodia from Jaipur, the “Pink City” of India. I was born in 1969 in a village near Jaipur. As I was pursuing my education, I realized that I wanted to do something creative. I loved the world of craft and wanted to venture into it. As there was no one to guide me how to start, or what to start with, I started introspecting and did research as to ‘what do I wish to do, or what I am good at doing?’
“Initially, I started designing jewelry with semiprecious stones. Every person has different taste, so at times it would become difficult to satisfy the needs of every person. But I tried my best to bring happiness to every face. My designs were crafted by some jewelry artisans from where I used to get my jewelry. Gradually, I made some very good customers who would appreciate my designs and buy jewelry from me.
“Although I was doing well in jewelry designing, I felt that I actually wanted to do something else. Inspired by the grandeur of the Mughal architecture, I tried my hands at designing artifacts. Fascinated by the bright colors and shimmer of gemstones, I decided to design beautiful sculptures, vases, and pots, and paint them with bright colors and embellish them with glittering gold and sparkling stones. br>
“In the year 1998, with hard work and determination, I started my own workshop with a team of 15 workers. I do the designing while my team helps me to craft the artifacts. We procure materials from the domestic market and process with our ideas amd designs. At times, my wife also assists us in our work. We use white marble, poster paint, 22 karat gold leaf paint and acrylic stones for all our products. At first we craft the products with white marble and then beautifully hand paint them with poster color and gold leaf paint. Further, the products are embellished and enhanced with acrylic stones.
“I hope that people love and appreciate my designs all over the world, and I also wish to expand my team of workers. It will provide them employment so that they can earn a decent livelihood, educate their children and live a comfortable life. I am thankful to Novica for giving me an opportunity to showcase my work to the whole world.”
