Artisan Ana Maria Enciso of Peru designs a handcrafted copper and bronze decorative vase inspired by the Moche culture, for whom deities with feline characteristics were important symbols. Made of copper oxidized to a green patina, and accented with polished copper and bronze, the vase features a snaggle-toothed feline mouth and wide eyes, with sun discs on either side of the head. Other symbols in bronze on the side of the vase include a cat and a bird.
Ana Maria Enciso has received 7 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $850 and the most recent for $600. Proceeds were used to buy copper and bronze to continue crafting her designs.
