Forming a circle, four quarter-round boxes display the ancient technique of lacquerware. Though the art form actually originated in China, it spread to northern Thailand centuries ago and firmly took hold there. Artisan Nantana Sompamitre crafts this set of four small boxes from mango wood and paints them carefully with floral motifs in cream, purple, green and blue.

"Lovely boxes for my smallest jewely"
I have several tiny prices of jewelry which are lovely but hard to see among larger pieces. Now I can keep them in an equally lovely jewelry box. The design is intricate and the shades are complimentary hues making four separate boxes a single work of art.
