"Birthday present for myself!"
I decided to treat myself for my birthday with the Ocean Symphony Batik robe. It is truly a treat! The colors are as represented, a lovely ocean themed combination of aqua, royal blue and purple with some lighter shades. Its a joy to wear. The fabric is nice and solid, but not heavy, stiff, or flimsy like some batiks. The fit is fine and very comfortable. I am most impressed with the craftsmanship, though. Every seam is enclosed, including the pockets and front placket and shaping seams. This type of french seam will ensure that no fraying occurs. I plan to enjoy this lovely robe for a very long time. Many thanks to the artist who created this beautiful piece!

"My daughter will love this!"

"Super Comfortable and Luxurious"
Love it...I am a size 1X and it fits. Don?t work around stove or sink with those sleeves though, they are long and cannot be rolled up - obviously. I love the feel of the fabric, light and soft. Colour is gorgeous.

"Beautiful robe - exactly like photos"
Just as described, really nice colors and soft to the touch. The size and length are exactly as described, it looks the same or better than the photos. High quality fabric and impeccable stitching. Arrived sooner than I was expecting, packed in a nice little fabric case that matches the robe. I highly recommend, great experience all around. Thank-you to the artisan for creating something so beautiful.

Bright & cheery, light with good airflow. Didnt give them a 5 star due to the ear straps being so large- required a bit of modification.

For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
Desak Nyoman Parwati has received 3 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2800 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in the purchase of textiles and batik dyes to increase production in time for the holiday season.
Through perseverance, Desak has grown her workshop. She now employs members of her family and give jobs to other artisans in her community.
The Women's Empowerment badge is awarded to female artisans or artisan groups that are led by women.
Desak works hard to care for her three children and does all she can to give them a better life.
This artist has dramatically improved their livelihood by working with NOVICA.
Desak provides for the education of her three children.
