Details

Oaxaca's golden sun caresses joyous colors that celebrate a fiesta. Wide blue borders evoke the night sky. Eliciting intricate motifs from virgin wool, Alberto Ruiz García and his wife craft this beautiful Zapotec rug on the handloom. They name the design "Fiesta de Colores" in Spanish.

Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 4 inches (10 cm).

"Gorgeous!"

Nearly 15 years ago, I spent time in Oaxaca and visited Teotitlan del Valle, the village where most of these beautiful weavings are created (perhaps I even stopped by Albertos shop). I was unable to purchase a rug at that time, so it gives me much joy to have discovered Novica and to now have Albertos gorgeous rug warming my bedroom floor. Muchisimas gracias!

Very nice weaving with vibrant colors and a subtle complexity that that is evident the closer one looks. Excellent crafts-person-ship.

Best Uses

  • This can brighten most any room in a variety of ways, as a wall hanging, a "scarf/neckpiece" for a sofa, an entryway piece +

"Beautiful rust coloured will rug"

icon star icon star icon star icon star icon star

This rug is absolutely beautiful and I was surprised how soft the wool feels under your bare feet - amazing! The colour is pretty accurately shown in the pictures but the written description of the colours is misleading, as another reviewer noted. Luckily I was banking on it being the colour shown in the pictures -and not the description - the red is actually a rust color, the black is more like charcoal or navy and the green is a yellowy olive green - exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you Albert!!
