Details

Few textile manufacturers still take the time to process natural indigo or block-print fabrics, but both practices continue to flourish in Rajasthan, India, where this handcrafted bedding is made using techniques that have been perfected over centuries. Bundles of the indigo plant are soaked to extract the vibrant dye, while long sheets of cotton are laid out awaiting the color. With hand-carved wooden blocks, a wax resist is applied to the fabric. When dyed, the wax areas remain white while the rest takes on the evocative hues of midnight, lapis lazuli, and cerulean that all begin with the tropical indigo plant. This elegant duvet cover will be the focal point of your bedroom.

Please note: Duvet cover only; the cushions and pillow shams shown are not included.

"Beautiful Bedspread"

The material is 100% cotton & can be washed in the washing machine. It makes the room look stunning. I am so pleased with this item. Beautifully made!!!

"Pretty but lots of issues"

The cover looks mostly like the photo, maybe a little less sharp but it is fairly rough so you'll want to use a top sheet. Two of the buttons came off within the first couple nights of use. And the design is such that the underside is like an envelop so you can't just reverse it like with every other cover I've owned.

"Not what we hoped it would be-looks old"

The actual bedspread is not as sharp and clear as the picture looks. It looks faded and old and the pattern looks blurred. We'll keep it, but it is not worth the price we paid...and it has no batting in it, just 2 pieces of fabric sewn together. NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN THE PICTURE. Sorry...but it is the truth

"I Wasn't Disappointed"

I was so excited to see whether the colors would match my expectations and they absolutely did. In fact, the 'real thing' is even more beautiful than the photo. I had read other reviews saying that the color fades or wears off onto white fabrics, so before using the duvet I washed it in cold water, with Ivory Snow and then dried it on low. The colors didn't fade and nothing came off on my white sheets.

"Color Is Not Indigo - Disappointing"

The color of this item was not "indigo" as advertised but was, instead, a plain blue. The quality of the material was good, and I liked the pouch in which it came.

"Indigo Duvet"

I suggest to launder the duvet because the blue dye will go on to other fabrics such as sheets.

"Striking design as an accent"

We searched several years to find a duvet that met our needs for color, design and functionality. We purchased 3 others covers prior to this and were almost immediately underwhelmed. This Indigo duvet cover exceeded all of our expectations for color, fabric and comments!

"Loving the duvet and pillow shams"

I use this as a duvet cover in winter and take out the duvet and use it as a blanket in summer. I love the folk art look of it. The white background pillow shams are small and only fit regular pillows; even the blue ones won't fit a really large pillow, so be aware of that.

"Dye not secure."

We very much like the design and colour. However, even in a cold water wash, the dye bled and the white pattern turned light blue. We know indigo dyes are notorious for doing this, but were surprised that a product this expensive would run.

"Indigo Duvet Cover"

This cover appearance is as advertised. It is the correct size, fitting my down quilt perfectly. The pattern and color are perfect with no rub off from the dye. I am very happy with it and hope it launders well. If you want an artisanal look, this duvet cover is it!

"Beautiful bed cover"

I love the blend of colors after the first wash, beautiful, bright colors, not too heavy, folds easily and surprised how compact it is when folded.

"Lovely Pennathur indigo design"

A tiny bit of indigo came off on my moist hands while stuffing a white comforter inside, so next wash day I will gently wash this duvet and shams in cold water (maybe with a little salt water soak to set the extra rich indigo) before putting them back on the bed. But it's nothing that would prevent me from loving this attractive duvet. Buttons on solid back form envelope. The shams are smaller than expected, just pillow-case size.

"Rough-feeling Fabric"

I bought this duvet cover along with two of the matching blue pillowcases and two of the white ones, and two of the decorative pillows. The worst thing is that the fabric is rough; it may be 100% cotton, but it has a low thread count, and does not feel good on bare skin. When I first unpacked it, I was disappointed with how dark the color was, but after the first wash it turned into the brilliant blue color pictured online. Hopefully the color lasts as it is a beautiful indigo now. Also, the set is not sewn well; there are a lot of loose threads and some parts are sewn unevenly so that the duvet does not evenly inside. The set looks really pretty together, but had I known how uncomfortable the fabric was and how bad the quality was I would not have bought the set - way too expensive for the quality.

"Beautiful duvet"

We bought this to cover and decorate our king size bed. The cotton is fairly soft and the block printing (batik?) is really pretty. We also purchased the shams. Our bed is gorgeous!

"Beware"

I love the color and design of this duvet, but was dismayed when my hands turned blue while unpacking it. Even after washing, the dye continues to rub off on contact, which is a problem with my white sheets. Also, the design with the fold over flap at the bottom restricts the duvet to be positioned with the closure at the bottom of the bed, but the king sized duvet cover isn't quite wide enough to reach from side to side of my king-sized bed, although it is long enough to tuck in at the bottom and still cover pillows at the top.

"Artisan Indigo Duvet cover"

Really love the color and pattern on this duvet cover. I washed it and put it down on the bed. Since it is summer I am not putting a duvet inside of it so it looks flatter on the bed than the photo. I expect it will look plumper when fall comes. The package arrived in good time and the cover is in very good shape. Thanks so much!
