Inspired by themes of traditionalism and modernism, Javanese artist Reza Dwakiss paints this abstract composition. Hues of white, blue, yellow, and black are painted in acrylic, while pictographs and writing are done in permanent marker, depicting various figures and a cityscape. Says the artist, "This painting tells us about the transition/degradation of traditional village community trust towards modern, sophisticated society. These are myths that are still believed in the lives of rural communities that transition into modern society, so there are many pros and cons."

This is at the framers now with two others that I will hang as a triptych. I enjoy the directness of the expression in all its confusion, detail and enthusiasm.
