A priest invokes the presence of Quetzalcoátl ("feathered serpent") in the replica of an Olmec glyph dated 800-400 B.C. Regarded as a god-ruler, Quetzalcoátl was related to gods of the wind, of dawn, of Venus, of merchants and of arts, crafts and knowledge. Mexico's Elisa Camarena molds the plaque with extraordinary precision and rugged textures, creating the illusion of an image carved in stone. The signed piece stands on a pinewood base.
