According to the myth of the torito de Pucará, or the Pucara bull, a bull was to be sacrificed in order to bring rain to the ancient village of Pucara. On its way up to be sacrificed, the bull resisted, piercing the side of a mountain with its horn, creating a flood of water from the mountainside that sated the needs of the village people. Peru's Maribel Posso Olivares draws inspiration from that myth, crafting this bull figurine from ceramic and painting it by hand in solid red with metallic-colored accents and multicolored floral motifs, blending Peruvian and Spanish art styles for a charming sculpture.
