Evoking coral reefs in a midnight sea, this beautiful batik robe expresses the artistic freedom of Nyoman Nadri. She creates this graceful rayon robe with wide sleeves and a matching belt. In traditional kimono style, the robe features openings under the arms for adjusting the robe and for ease of movement.
Batik is a fabric art in which the cloth is stretched on a wooden frame and the design sketched with a pencil. Then a mixture of melted wax is painted by hand onto areas where color is not desired. When the fabric is crumpled into the dying solution, the wax cracks, creating an attractive network of fine lines. The wax is removed and the process is repeated for each color utilized. Finally, the cloth is washed and rinsed to remove any excess dye.
This handpainted batik robe is a truly original work of art. Sunlight, water, dye and temperature all factor into the look of the finished robe. This should be considered a unique design made especially for you. Colors and pattern placement will vary.

"Another Classy Coverup"
I've bought 3 kimonos from Novica lately. My review of all are the same as they're great products. I recently moved from a house to a condo where neighbors tend to do sweet things like drop off packages, ect. I also work at home so spend some days in my jammies for a good part of the day as I work. I wanted a nice coverup that I could throw on over anything and be completely presentable, something other than a traditional bathrobe. This beautiful, well made, sturdy (not flimsy see-through) bright, classy kimono did the trick! I like it so well that I ordered another one (more jewel-toned) as well as a short one for the summer. Highly recommended.

"Spring Ensemble"
I just ordered this for myself for spring. Lovely and soft - soft knit white or black nightgown makes this a great ensemble to wear even when company stops by - Im thinking ahead.

"This is Beautiful!"
This kimono in wonderful colors of blue is a pleasure to look at and a pleasure to wear. The colors are dreamy colors of blue, with turquoise, royal and navy. The style is easy and dramatic, and the fabric is rayon, soft and comfortable. When I received the robe, I tried it on - I have worn it everyday since. This has been a true bright spot doing the pandemic. I applaud the artist for the lovely print and I thank Novica for having lovely things to buy from artisans around the world.
