Details

Part of standard-issue military wear during WWII, sweaters like this wool pullover were popular among servicemen for comfort, durability, and easy pullover warmth. The shawl-collar style buttons up to cut the cold just as it did onboard aircraft carriers in the '40s. Cotton twill canvas-reinforced elbows add durability.

"Perfect Casual Sweater"

It's fantastic, and just as advertised! I have to believe that it's almost a perfect match to the WWII Military Sweater. It fits perfectly, and I really love the look and feel. I can wear it with jeans (super casual) or with a less casual pair of slacks that coordinate with it. Most of all, I love its warmth while still being quite stylish. A perfect addition to my wardrobe.

"In rainy and chilly weather, nothing beats wool"

I noted a friend who runs a coffee shop, lugging in supplies on a cold, rainy day. He was soaked and cold by the time he finished. I have had heavy wool sweaters for similar purposes for decades and decided to buy the Natl Geo one for him. We 'sized' him according to some similar sweaters I have. When the sweater arrived, it turned out to be too big. I hadn't paid attention to the fact that various manufacturers follow different sizing standards. Bottom line: the replacement sweater fit fine and my friend was delighted.

"Just ordered another one"

Bought this sweater for cold weather motorcycle riding under jacket, love it and ordered another one so won't be left out between cleanings. Collar is great because can warm ears and keep wind off neck, as a man of few means these purchases were well afforded and quality to be proud of.
