Abstract Painting from Africa, "Come In"
Memories from his days in the National Service spent in northern Ghana serve as inspiration to David Mawunya Charway. "The people of this area are very hospitable!," confides the Ghanaian artist. "I especially recall the architectural style of the region and its dry withered trees during Harmattan season." Every year, from November to March, the "African trade winds" of Harmattan blow dry and dusty from the Sahara to the Gulf Guinea. At their strongest, they can blow all the way to North America.
Signed Abstract Painting in Black from Ghana, "Jazz Music III"$397.99
Inspired by the wonder of jazz music, Ghanaian artist Attakora Yeboah paints this impressive abstract painting. Stark black gives way to greys, yellows, and an explosion of white. The artist works using various techniques, allowing relief to build up on the canvas that is further enhanced with splotches of paint.
Signed Abstract Acrylic African Print-Inspired Painting, "Brown Dominant"$199.99
Ghanaian artist Nana K. K. was inspired by the aesthetics of traditional African prints when he created this bright painting packed with colors and busy patterns. The artist works with acrylic paint and a palette knife to lay down thick layers of blue, brown, yellow, and green.
Signed Abstract Painting with Primary Colors from Ghana, "New Era"$59.99
Inspired by themes of change, Ghanaian artist Stephen Dede-Bamfo paints this stunning composition. Abstract shapes with stark black lines are filled with striking primary hues of red and blue, which contrast with more somber notes of green and orange. The artist decorates the canvas with abstract scribbling that resembles signatures.
