The chakana illuminates the sky, embroidered by hand on a blue wool tapestry. Zosimo Laura weaves it on a traditional loom in a style unique to Ayacucho. One of the pre-Hispanic astral symbols that presided over the Andean universe, the chakana symbolizes order in family and community life. The chakana is taken from a constellation of stars forming a quadratic square, and represents the universe connected to the center of the world, believed to be Cuzco.
Titled "Chakanas en el cielo" in Spanish.
