This is a lovely addition to our western motif.
It is very tightly woven, even pattern and very vivid colors. I am very happy with and it looks great.
Exactly What I Wanted
My girlfriend and I moved from New Jersey to Sedona 8 months ago. We are in the process of decorating in a manner that is southwestern without being cliche, without being cartoonish. We looked at Zapotec rugs in local stores. They were what we were looking for in the way of rugs. I was prepared to pay the high price they were asking, but we didnt find exactly what we wanted. Then I happened on Novica, had never heard of this site, and found exactly what I wanted, for much less money, and a lot more of that money going to the artisan. This piece by Gregorio Ruiz is simply superb!
Gorgeous Rug Evoking Memories of Oaxaca
This rug is amazing! The colors are very vibrant and the craftsmanship is top notch. I have been to Oaxaca many times, and Ms. Ruizs work is among the best I have seen. It looks fantastic in our home and gets many compliments.

Mexican Zapotec Wool Area Rug (1.5x7), "Oaxaca Homeland"
Oaxaca's warm sun illuminates mountain meadows washed by summer rain. Eliciting intricate motifs from virgin wool, Alberto Ruiz García and his wife craft this beautiful Zapotec rug on the handloom. They name the design "Mi tierra oaxaqueña" in Spanish.
Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 1 inch (3 cm).
Handmade Zapotec Rug (2.5x6.5), "Glowing Embers"
Glowing colors from natural dyes conjure the embers of a campfire in the sierra. This delightful rug by Gregorio Ruiz features intricate geometric designs. Masterfully woven by hand of soft virgin wool, it is a superb example of Zapotec weaving.
Because each rug is an individual work of art, the tones, motifs and order of colors may vary slightly according to the artisan's inspiration.
Titled "Líneas Multicolores" in Spanish.
Geometric Wool Area Rug (1.5x6), "Stars on Earth"
Stars descend from the sky to illuminate the fertile earth. Neatly woven by hand in virgin wool, the elegant motifs grace a traditional Mexican rug. Gregorio Ruiz Lopez works on the handloom to create designs his father taught him, this one named "Jaula de Estrellas" in Spanish.
