Magnificent monkey business!
Large, well made. Unique piece and a great addition to my collection. Artist is very talented. One down side, you have to rig your own way to hang. Would be better with a wire or hanger screwed into the inside of mask.
Simple but eye-catching
My sister and her husband collect ethnic masks, and this one is unlike any they have. I liked that its so narrow, which should make it easy to find a place for it. Also, their other masks are mostly bare wood, and the color on this gives it more of a presence, even though its smaller than their other pieces.

Nigerian Wood Mask, "Harvest Joy"$77.99
A serious expression belies the joy of an abundant harvest. Carved and painted by hand, this handsome mask comes from Abdul Aziz Mohamadu. "It is used by the Chamba people of Nigeria during the Chambalare festival, which celebrates the end of the hunger suffered in the olden days," he says. "Farmers wear the mask to remember the days of severe hunger. Although the festival is joyous and filled with merrymaking, the sight of this mask reminds people to keep their crops well and waste nothing." He names this piece a Hausa word meaning "Worried."
Hand-Carved Sese Wood Fang Monkey African Mask, "Fang Monkey"$194.99
Ghanaian artisan Salihu Ibrahim creates a handcrafted masterpiece to grace your space. Inspired by the nomadic Fang people of West Africa, this mask fuses the concepts of a human face with that of a monkey. A block of sese wood is intricately hand-carved to form an elongated visage and hand-painted details enhance the fine features.
Hand Carved Wood Mask, "Cheeky Chimp"$104.99
Salihu Ibrahim carves the image of a monkey with a cheeky smile, influenced by the artistic stylizations of the Nuna tribe. Hailing from Burkina Faso, the Nuna families and clans honor the animal spirits living in the world around them; they believe these spirits are powerful so they seek their protection and their blessings. Ibrahim uses polish and kola nut to embellish this sese wood mask.
